What do Culture Shift Fellows Do?
The Sustained Dialogue Institute (SDI) is a capacity-building nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., that helps people transform conflictual relationships and design change processes around the world.
Have you been invited to be a Culture Shift Fellow in your workplace, campus, or community?
Fellows will:
- Design at least one local skillbuilding series, course, podcast, or event with an audience of your choice by December 2025
- Be willing to report out on the effort’s impact with SDI and the SD organizers and champions in your locale
- Receive one-on-one support, coaching, materials from SDI team members as you plan
- Be willing to connect with and support other SDI Culture Shift Fellows invited to the 2024-2025 cohort from across the country
- Be profiled nationally!
Your unique skills match if you:
- Have completed SD training and feel confident in how to implement
- Understand complex intergroup relationships in your locale
- Understand that the campus is a set of systems to think about holistically and institutionally, and willing to consider the whole ecosystem in your initiatives
- Have capacity, energy, interest, and willingness to use facilitation skills
- Are considered a trusted person (maybe for many groups and roles)
- Are willing to influence others, with empathy and without judgment
- Are willing to repeatedly attempt to collaborate (even with past history and challenges)
- Have ideas that create possibility
- Are willing to be a bright light for others, give some hope for humanity
- Are creative in order to get unstuck from past issues and false binaries
- Are willing to lead others, modeling skills related to coalition-building and dialogue
- Want to work with SDI staff to propose an ongoing plan for cultural change in the areas you can influence
